ore than a hundred-year-old State School, “Ecole BOULLE”, located in the 12th district of Paris, emphasizes creativity as well as expertise.
Past students hold key positions at home and abroad in various facets of home furnishing, interior design, product identity…
Today highly talented students and teachers are involved in real life projects with dynamic international partners such as L.V.M.H, Hennessy, Epeda, Jean-Claude Boisset, Perrier Jouët, Veuve Clicquot, Sheraton hotel, Schlumberger.
A policy of exhibiting students work at major trade fairs has enabled the School to build an enviable reputation The students who attend and participate in these events, gain valuable professional and cultural experience.


DEGREES

• BA a three-year course including one-year foundation course. At the end of the second year, the students have to complete a professional internship of 6 weeks in France or abroad
• DSAA : a two-year post graduate degree after the BA.
At the end of the first year, the students have to complete a professional internship of 6 weeks in France or abroad
The graduation work consists in a final design project

AREAS of STUDIES

Design

  • Space Design ( three-year BA course including one year foundation course)
  • Event & Communication Design : Scenography, temporary Architecture, Packaging and Visual Communication, (three-year BA course including one year foundation course)
  • Engineering Design / Shop Fitting (three-year BA course including one year foundation course)
  • Interior Design (two-year post graduate course )
  • Product Design (two-year post graduate course)

Art and Craft Design

Twelve departments (three-year BA course including one year foundation course)
Six of them are directly related to furniture : furniture making, chair making, marquetery, wood carving, traditional and modern surface decoration and finishing as well as upholstery/interior decoration.
The other six are related to silversmithing and jewellery: bronze setting, metal turning, chiselling/chasing embossing and ornemental engraving, jewellery.

Wood and Furniture Mass-Production (two- year BA course)

  • option A : advanced manufacturing techniques and computer application
  • option B : management of operations and business studies


APPLICATIONS

French applicants are selected after

1- considering their school reports
2 - passing a “Baccalauréat” (A.Level)
3 - being submitted to a selective artistic test

ACADEMIC CALENDAR

The academic year begins around the 1st week of September and finishes towards the end of June.
Fall semester : from the beginning of September to the end of January.
Spring semester : from beginning of February to the end of June.

The School is closed from the beginning of July and to the end of August. No Summer courses.


OPEN DAYS/ OPEN STUDIOS

Usually the last Friday and Saturday of January ( see Portes Ouvertes).
This academic year they will be on the 28th and 29th of January 2005.
The degree show is at the end of June ( please inquire)

We exhort our graduates to spend a year abroad part in a university and part as
trainees in foreign companies ( Leonardo Programme : from 4 weeks to one year )


INTERNATIONAL CLASS

To apply for the International class, foreign students must send a letter and C.V, together with a portfolio containing a selection of their works and a statement about their projects, before mid May for the Fall semester and end of October for the Spring semester.
After acceptance to the School, the student will meet the International co-ordinator upon arrival in Paris.
Then 2 week’s observation period will be spent in the chosen department to determine the suitable courses according to the students’ wishes, abilities and learning agreement.
